Dumped the “the story of possibilities in Africa” the two rivers international class regional shopping mall is set to open its doors in February 2017.
The mall, the only one of its kind and the largest in east and central Africa lies on an expansive piece of land in some distance of about 15 kilometers from the Kenya’s capital central business department (CBD) Nairobi; only a few minutes from several embassies and the UN headquarters in Kenya. Construction is complete, providing a gross lettable area of 67000 SQM of retail space.
According to centum group, the company undertaking the project, the mall compromises of residential, commercial, retail, MICE and hospitality offerings . There are 198 stores available to let, and 100 stores majorly occupied by international brands, are currently fitting out in anticipation to open on 14th February 2017. This include Deacons group( Adidas, Bossini, MR. price home, MR. Price Apparel) Carrefour, Villeroy&Bosch, Magic Planet, Nike, Swarosvski, Anmol jewellers, Barclays bank, secret garden, coffee nove, urban gourmet among others.
Addressing journalists at the mall during a media tour to the mega facility, centum group (Two Rivers mall investor) chairman group and industrialist Dr. Chris Kirubi termed the project as fulfillment of the Africa’s dream of possibilities.
“This is a lead of what we have achieved as Kenya, it is the story of possibilities in Africa, Africa’s rising is embedded here” Said Dr. Kirubi
“Two rivers represents the best in the world, conference facilities, international brands… it’s a representation of various countries, and we are bringing the world to Africa” he added.
The project has been termed as a game changer in African business. It is currently set to host 9 banks as more shoppers trickle in. it also has 200 shops providing diverse offering of products and services including food, fashion, health and beauty stores.
In addition to this, the mall has two office towers with a combined leasable space of 21,000SQM of grade- A offices. Human traffic has been given outmost priority, with parking bays occupying the basement and rooftop of the mall.
As the world continues to hurt from the threat of world rising insecurity, two rivers has a “military” like security to ensure safety of all in the facility. Technology is at the center of it, making use of IBM’s intelligent operation centers. This system enables for surveillance, threat detection, screening alerts and communication across the facility, for ultimate security. Further, there are surveillance cameras, ANPR systems for scanning license plates, vehicle under surveillance system and explosive detectors, human security is also manning every corner of the facility.
Other Support infrastructure like water, power and ICT infrastructure has also been supplied to ensure a new reliable urban node, designed to provide clean and friendly natural ecosystem.
Two rivers shopping mall sets out as a model destination statement for African establishments and investments. It is a facility that will offer many job opportunities for the locals further to revolutionizing the shopping experience in Africa.
In his words, the investment group chairman says “the young people who will get jobs here is a serious number. This is what development means”
He further lauded Kenyans for investing to produce top notch man power, “ we don’t have to bring Chinese here to do what our people can do, we have matured as Kenyans” Said Dr. kirubi.
Centum CEO MR. James Mworia reiterated that the facility will offer work like environment like any other part of the world “we have over 50 international brands who have pitched camp here, visitors will experience all that they have left in their countries here.” Said Mworia.
Economically, The over 20 billion shillings facility will also face lift and improve the life’s of the locals. It is a ready market for Kenyan farm products and a major employer of local talent and man power.
The east African country has experienced positive development in recent times. The two rivers mall unseats another recently opened Garden city (5000SQM) mall to take the throne of the largest and world class status both in Kenya and Africa. Never the less, the investment company says that the journey has just began
